The project topic is "Multiuser Detection in Sattelite CDMA System".&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The topic integrates a well known CDMA concept with the Mobile Satellite Communication.  I like CDMA since nowadays some achievement in 3G Systems was made by CDMA, either CDMA2000 (3GPP2) or W-CDMA (3GPP).  Both families have their own evolution paths that rely on CDMA concept or mix between CDMA and other recent multiple access techniques (TDMA, FDMA, OFDM, and so fort).  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Eventhough Mobile Satellite System haven't had such a success commercial story as the terrestrial systems, there are a lot of work undergone in University of Surrey and other researh centers to make some breakthrough both in multiple access and the satellite technology itself.  Several researches undergoes to examine whether OFDM, UMTS or CDMA2000 can be used and examined its individual performance under typical satellite characteristic and constellation (LEO, VLEO, etc).  On the other hand, there are some intension from the research center to build a palm sattelite (from a mug size to slighly bigger than a PC) with the same performance and more cost effective.  As a result, the mobile satellite still has a hope to become an important solution to the mobile personal communication system in near future.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It's obvious that I will have a chance in mastering my CDMA concept and also the mobile sattelite concept after finishing this project.  I hope I can make it. It needs extra though before deciding, somehow make me suffer into deep contemplation.  I haven't decided which areas I can carry on the projects.  There are many things to consider and unfortunately most of them are beyond my control.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;- Mobile Multimedia, including multimedia source coding and transmission over Wireless IP Network.  &lt;br /&gt;- Mobile Ad hoc Network (MANET)&lt;br /&gt;- CDMA2000 or WCDMA physical layers&lt;br /&gt;- MiMo, OFDM, or UWB... &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It would be excellent if I can work on CDMA2000.  But it is beyond my control, I expect to get approval from Dr. Atta Quddus and Prof Barry Evans.&lt;br /&gt;MiMo, OFDM, UWB are interesting topics. However it needs an advance understanding to cope with their complexity either in mathematics, modulation technique and MathLab programming.
